Boo Design Studio is founded by Lebanese husband-and-wife duo, Amanda (b,1985) and Jo (b,1986) Booabbood who began their artistic partnership with Qatar-based organizations in 2018. As part of this, Boo Design Studio partnered with Qatari interdisciplinary designer and educator Maryam Al-Homaid (b. 1988) whose work explores themes of identity through the fusion of DIY culture, technology and traditional and contemporary expressions from her local environment.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ was the first World Cup hosted in the Middle East, in the Arabian Gulf and the second in Asia. In collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Boo Design and Al-Homaid collected 250,000 keychains from the fans’ accommodation. Key to Memories is a timeless tribute to the collective experience of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. Located in front of Lusail Metro Station, one of the busiest transit hubs during this period, it not only served as a gateway to electrifying football matches but also fostered a shared experience of anticipation, excitement, and joy.
Alongside Al-Homaid’s custom pattern which combines tradition with contemporary elements, Keys to Memories captures the enthusiastic chants of the fans of the final four teams, carrying their energy into an everlasting legacy. The piece invites visitors to reflect on this historic event and ensures the magic of the experience lives on for generations to come.
